May 6 – May 30, 2026. Quilt & Fiber Art Show. In celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary, please join us in the Third Floor Art Gallery to view a very special selection of handmade fiber art and quilts presented by two local quilting groups. We’re thrilled to showcase American-themed motifs created uniquely for this exhibit by Northern Star Quilters Group along with traditional American quilt designs created over decades by the Butterfly Quilters Group.
About the Quilters:
The Northern Star Quilters Guild started in Somers, New York and is over forty years old. Each year the Guild has a member’s Challenge. The Challenge this year honors the 250th anniversary of our country by making art quilts in red, white, and blue. The quilts are 13” x 25” which is the proportion of the American flag. Over 30 intricately-stitched creations will be on display.
The Butterfly Quilters Group is Mahopac Public Library’s quilting group. This talented group has worked together for years on quilting projects for the community, meeting weekly on Tuesday mornings on the library’s third floor. Comprised of longtime members and new members wishing to hone their quilting skills, The Butterfly Quilters will be displaying 10+ large format quilts with traditional American designs, patterns and techniques such as log cabin, sampler patterns and more.

June 3 – June 25, 2026. New photography exhibit, “Seen” featuring photographic portraits from the world travels of Mahopac resident Debra Mayer. The series of striking color photos explores the extraordinary cultural heritage revealed, not in museums or tourism campaigns, but in unscripted encounters from around the globe.
“These photographs ask the viewer to slow the act of looking at a stranger, until it becomes an empathetic act of recognizing the power of the person being seen,” Debra Mayer describes.
The striking images were gathered over years of respectful street photography from Ms. Mayer’s extensive travel across five continents. Together they form a multi-dimensional portrait of humanity itself – complex, vibrant, and fascinating—endlessly worthy of being seen. The photographs in Seen reveal the artistic side of Debra Mayer, an attorney whose 30-year career was built on legal advocacy and artistic expression.
