Exhibits & News

June 3 – June 25, 2026. New photography exhibit, “Seen” featuring photographic portraits from the world travels of Mahopac resident Debra Mayer. The series of striking color photos explores the extraordinary cultural heritage revealed, not in museums or tourism campaigns, but in unscripted encounters from around the globe.
“These photographs ask the viewer to slow the act of looking at a stranger, until it becomes an empathetic act of recognizing the power of the person being seen,” Debra Mayer describes.
The striking images were gathered over years of respectful street photography from Ms. Mayer’s extensive travel across five continents. Together they form a multi-dimensional portrait of humanity itself – complex, vibrant, and fascinating—endlessly worthy of being seen. The photographs in Seen reveal the artistic side of Debra Mayer, an attorney whose 30-year career was built on legal advocacy and artistic expression.

June 29 – July 27, 2026, The Tempestery Project, , Third Floor Gallery. See the one-of-a-kind traveling art exhibit featuring “Tempestries” knit by artisans from across the Hudson Valley. This large-scale community art project depicts climate data from our region from 1895-2025. Each Tempestry (or temperature tapestry) is a knitted scarf-sized wall hanging that shows the daily high temperatures for a specific location and year. Knitters and knitting groups in the Mid-Hudson Library System have worked together to create this traveling exhibit to tell the story of not just climate change, but the history of libraries in the region and the personal histories of the knitters.
Tempestery Reception, July 11, 12:00 to 2:00 pm, meet the artisans, view the Tempestry Project, enjoy light refreshments. Open to the public. Third Floor Gallery.
