Winter 2020 Teen Volunteer Opportunities

A Teen Volunteer Application MUST be completed.
Drop off you completed forms at the library information desk or fax to the library at 845-628-0672.

Grades 6-12 Only

Putnam County Kids & Teens Open Mic Night
Libraries across the county will get together at Patterson Library to see what kind of talent we have in our community. If you have a talent and would like to participate this is your opportunity. Earn Community Hours, meet new friends and have a lot of fun.
January 10th from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Teen Library Council
Join us once a month to plan future activities that will make a difference in your community. We’ll work on different goals each month. Help prepare materials for children’s programs, make holiday treats for shelters, organize food drives and more. Bring your energy and ideas. Earn Community Service hours during the planning and earn double hours when working special events.
February 6th, March 12th, April 23rd and May 14th from 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM

Lego Club
Help setup, clean up, organize the Legos, and display Legos after the program. You do not have to commit to all the dates. Earn Community Services hours and have a lot of fun.
February 6th, March 5th, April 2nd, May 7th and June 4th from 4:15 PM – 5:45 PM

Teen Balloon Club
Meets once a month plus special events. Learn how to make balloon animals while having fun with your friends. We will go out into the community making balloon animals at special events. Earn Community Service hours at each class and double community hours when working special events.
February 27th from 3:15 PM- 4:15 PM

Teen After Hours Nerf Battle: Zombies vs. Humans
This is a special teen program. Help setup, be a bullet collector during the game, cleanup and you will also participate in the program. You will need your own Nerf Gun to volunteer for this program.
February 28th from 6:30 PM – 8:45 PM

Book Buddies
Become a book buddy and read and share books with younger children. Community Service credit will be given. You have to commit to every Tuesday for 7 weeks.
January 29th, February 4th, 11th, 25th, March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th from 4:30 PM – 5:15 PM

STEAMtastic Explorations
Help prepare materials for STEAM programs. Must love to do crafts and be detail oriented. Help set up, clean up and help kids in grades 1-5 with their STEAM projects.
Wednesday’s from 4:30 PM – 5:15 PM (official dates TBA)

Fun with Chocolate
This is a program for teens. You will be helping set up the chocolate stations, staff a table, make a treat yourself and help clean up at the end.
february 13th from 3:45 PM – 5:30 PM

Winter Frosty Fun
This is a program for children in grades K-5. you will help the kids make edible snowmen and help run the indoor snowball battle. Double community service hours.
December 12th from 3:45 PM – 6:45 PM

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
You will help young children with a craft. After a story time book they will leave their stuffed animals in your care. You will have one hour to take pictures of these much loved stuffed animals doing funny things in the library. a cell phone will be needed for this event. These pictures will be posted on our Instagram and Facebook for the children to see and enjoy. Double community hours will be given for this event.
March 13th from 5:00 PM – 6:45 PM
