Winter 2019 Teen Volunteer Opportunities

A Teen Volunteer Application MUST be completed.
Drop off you completed forms at the library information desk or fax to the library at 845-628-0672.

Grades 8-12 Only

On Going Programs

Program Prep Help
Help prepare materials for children’s programs, detail oriented work. You do not have to commit to all meeting dates.
Meeting dates: 1/17, 1/24, 1/31, 2/21, 2/28, 3/21, 3/28, 4/25, 5/16, 5/23, 5/30. From 3:30 PM-4:30 PM.

Teen Balloon Club
Meets once a month plus special events. Learn how to make balloon animals while having fun with your friends. We will go out into the community making balloon animals at special events. You do not have to attend all meetings or events. Next events; Carnival Night at the Patterson Library, February 18th from 6:30-8:00 PM. More events coming. You will get double community hours for the special events.
Meeting dates: 1/3, 2/7, 3/7, 5/2, 6/6. From 3:30-4:30 PM.

Lego Club 
Help setup and cleanup after the program. You do not have to commit to all the dates.
Meeting dates: 1/10, 2/14, 3/14, 5/9, 6/13 4:30 PM-5:45 PM.

Teens Who Care
Join us once a month to plan future activities that will make a difference in your community. Community hours will be given for all meeting and double hours at special events in the community.
Meeting Dates: 1/10, 2/14, 3/14, 5/9. 3:30 PM-4:30 PM.

STEAM Workshops for Adults:
Help prepare material for this adult program. Must love to do crafts and be detailed oriented. You will learn about 3D Printing, Virtual Reality games, use polymer beads and more. There is a lot of training for this program so you will have to commit to all dates.
Meeting dates: Every other Monday from 7:15 PM-8:30 PM starting in January.

Book Buddies:
Become a book buddy and read and share books with younger children. Community service credit will be given to volunteers that attend regularly. You must be able to commit to every Tuesday.
Meeting dates: Every Tuesday from 4:30 PM-5:15 PM starting January 29th.

Special Programs

Stuffed Animal Sleepover
You will be helping young children with a craft. After a story time book they will leave their stuffed animals in your care. You will have one hour to take pictures of these much loved stuffed animals doing funny things in the library. A cell phone will be needed for this event. These pictures will be posted on our Instagram and Facebook for the kids to enjoy. Double community hours will be given for this event.
January 11th. 5:45 PM-7:30 PM

Maker Faire
This is a STEAM event. You will be helping run a table. Some of the tables will be DIY Flashlights, 3D Pen Key Chains, Paper Bead making, and Virtual Reality Games. Double community hours will be given for this special event.
January 21st from 2:30 PM-8:00 PM.

Fun with Chocolate
This is a program for teens. You will be helping set up the chocolate stations, man a table, make a treat yourself, and help clean up at the end. The program starts at 5:00 PM but volunteers are asked to arrive at 4:30 PM.
February 7th from 4:30 PM-6:00 PM.

Winter Frosty Fun
This is a program for kids K-5. You will be helping the kids make edible snowman and help run the indoor snowball battle. Double community hours.
February 19th from 1:15 PM-2:45 PM.

Putnam County Kids & Teens Talent Open Mic Night
Located at the Kent Library. If you have a talent and would like to participate in the Teen Open Mic and represent your library this is your opportunity. Earn community hours, meet new friends and have a lot of fun.
February 22nd at 6:30 PM.

Teen After Hours Nerf Battle: Zombies vs. Humans
This is a special teen program. You will be given community hours for helping set up the game and clean up after. Double community service hours will be given to those teens that play a zombie. If you would like to participate in the game you will have to bring your own Nerf Gun. Let me know if you would like to be a zombie.
March 29th from 6:15 PM-8:45 PM.
